nutcracker

My grandpa has a huge walnut tree in his front yard. Lots of my childhood memories of my grandpa's house includes every one getting together cracking nuts.

my grandpa cracks the nuts and then we all sit and pick the walnut out of the shell and discard the shell. Sometimes we make it a game to see who can fill their container first.
love my gramps.

nature-lovers

Darrick, Adrienne, and I went camping up Squaw Peak at our secret campsite with some of their friends. It was a great trip and helped fulfill my desire to go camping this summer. We all definitely bonded on this trip.

name my bunny

So my grandpa has a bunny. And this bunny just had babies about 2 weeks ago. The babies finally just opened their eyes so now I can hold them and play with them. This bunny is my favorite one so far. Probably because it is the  one that I can catch when sticking my hand into their cage. There are 5 babies total.
I need your help to come up with a name for her/him--leave a comment!

such a let down

This morning when I got to work I checked my email. I had received this email from my sister..

"Greetings!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for entering Parachute's contest for the ESPYs pre-show performance! We couldn't be more excited to be a part of the program, and we're so happy that you'll be there as well. Below are details for how you can park and pick up your wristband. Your name will be on the list with a +1, and wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis.

Thanks again, and we'll see you out there!

Team Parachute

Parking
Wristbands will be distributed from the Nokia Plaza at LA LIVE.  The East Garage at LA LIVE will be the most convenient but please access the LA LIVE Website for a secondary parking location if the East Garage is full.

http://www.lalive.com/parkingguide

Wristband Pickup
Wristbands will be distributed from a table in the NE Corner of Nokia Plaza, just in front of Wolf Gang Puck Bar and Grill.  Wristbands will be distributed from 3PM - 4PM."

She won 2 wristband to go see Parachute and participate in a meet and greet with the band. They performed for the ESPYs! And then she replies and said but just joking that was for yesterday. I was so sad I didn't know about it. We totally could have flown out there and gone. And guess who we would've seen..Jimmer. Cause he was totally at the ESPYs and won Best Male College Athlete.

And everything about this picture is wonderful.

double rainbow

This morning when I went out running...err walking with my grandpa we saw this beautiful double rainbow. It did not go all the way across the sky, but it was still really sweet. Little things like this really make me appreciate our world!

guest post for the day

A friend of mine from work, Darrik Cheney, had an overwhelming desire to write a blog post, but unfortunately does not have a blog of his own. I have allowed him to post it here. Hope you enjoy and are edified by it.

The other day I went to pick cherries with my friend Ryan Boyce.  I was going mostly to see some worms I had heard live in those cherries so I was unprepared for the amazing life-changing experience that was to come.  I started by picking up what I knew to be the craziest ugliest looking cherry in the whole world.  It was all black and stuff on the outside.  I squeezed it open looking for worms but there wasn’t any. Just normal cherry insides.  Then I picked up a really pretty shiny red, cherry-on-top style cherry and it not only had worms, but it had like this really gross black stuff.  Some cherries had holes, but no worms, and only gross black stuff. That’s when I realized something! Cherries are exactly like people!  Some of them are messed up a little but they’re really great on the inside. And some of the ones that are pretty are really black and gross on the inside, and some have worms. This was such a revelatory, spiritual, life changing experience that I wanted the world to know all about it.  Since this I have steared clear of anyone that looks normal, and I’ve been super happy.

sunshine in my sky

Stefan and I took a spontaneous trip to Waikiki, Hawaii over the long weekend. We layed out on the beach and played in the ocean all day long and at night would walk the streets and do some shopping. One night they had a 4th of july celebration on the beach and we watched soul surfer. It was sweet watching it on the beach, plus it was filmed in Oahu and Bethany Hamilton (the girl its about) and AnnaSophia Robb (the girl who played Bethany) were there to watch it with us. It was sweet and a real cool true story! Enjoy some pictures from the trip!

AnnaSophia was the actress that played Bethany Hamilton in Soul Surfer

Bethany Hamilton was there watching the movie with us,
and note her only arm is in a sling because she hurt it while surfing, but said it should be better soon.
